15 schools from seven municipalities have been selected to participate in the project Education for Sustainable Development within the region of Dalarna. The schools have accepted the challenge to develop new methods, tools and routines for integrating sustainable development into the whole educational program.
About the project
The project is unique in Sweden and is supported by Dalarna Research Institute. DRI is evaluating and and following up on the project with close cooperation with the schools and the project management. Research
Increasingly, people understand the importance of connecting education, research and knowledge to sustainable development. The UN general assembly has agreed on that the years 2005-2014 is a decade for education for sustainable development, for which UNESCO is the lead agency. Maybe now it is finally possible to realize that everything is linked, that we are part of nature and nature is part of us.
That we actually rely on nature
to have a good life here on Earth. We can already clearly observe effects of the climate changes and it is time to act!
